Surprise! He’s ba-aack! Mitt is in the news today. Does his sudden appearance on the scene, hinting at a possible “bombshell” in Donald Trump’s federal tax returns, signal that he is available to enter the race and save the GOP from a possible train-wreck in November? It could just be.
It January, 2015 Mitt tested the waters for another presidential bid, no doubt because he saw much weaker competition this time around with Hillary and all her negative baggage than in 2012 against a sitting President. But apparently he stood aside to let Jeb Bush try, as the establishment’s chosen 2016 standard bearer. But now Jeb is out! Enter Mitt?
On Wednesday Mitt Romney said to Fox News’ Neil Cavuto about Donald Trump’s tax returns, “Either he’s not anywhere near as wealthy as he says he is, or he hasn’t been paying the kind of taxes we would expect him to pay.”
Romney added, “The reason I think there’s a bombshell in there is because every time he’s asked about his taxes, he dodges and delays and says ‘well, we’re working on it.’ Hey, we’re not talking about the taxes that are coming due this year… We’re talking about taxes that already filed… Perhaps he hasn’t been giving money to the veterans or to the disabled like he’s been telling us he’s been doing. I think that’s the reason there’s a bombshell.”
Trump fired back, of course, saying in a Tweet:
When Mitt Romney asked me for my endorsement last time around, he was so awkward and goofy that we all should have known he could not win!

It is too late to enter the primaries, but if he could stop Trump’s momentum and cause a brokered convention, Romney might still have time to become the party’s choice for the general election.
I wonder what label Trump will use to bury him? Probably “loser” or “goofy” or maybe “goofy loser”.
